Reinforced Records

Reinforced Records

Founded in 1989, Reinforced Records emerged from a group of friends whose shared passion for music, technology and innovation would help shape the future of British electronic music. The label was run by Marc Mac, Gus Lawrence, Dennis McFarlane (Dego) and Ian Bardouille, who first met while studying electronic engineering in London during the late 1980s.

Before Reinforced was established, Marc Mac and Ian Bardouille had already formed the Solar Zone sound system. After meeting Gus Lawrence, the group launched the influential Strong Island pirate radio station, whose eclectic and forward-thinking approach quickly earned a loyal underground following. With the addition of Dego, one of the station's standout DJs, the foundations of Reinforced Records were firmly in place.

Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, Reinforced became one of the most important labels in the development of hardcore, jungle and drum & bass. The label released groundbreaking music from artists including 4hero, Tom & Jerry, Nasty Habits, DJ Pulse and many others, while influential series such as Enforcers and Hardleaders helped define the sound of a generation.

Widely regarded as one of the true foundations of jungle and drum & bass culture, Reinforced Records remains a symbol of innovation, independence and musical progression. Its legacy continues to inspire artists and fans around the world, while the Reinforced25 platform preserves and celebrates the history of one of the UK's most influential underground record labels.
